Beetnic meets with Jorge Petru in Argentina as he takes us through his social life, business and ofcourse beautiful Argentina

Beetnic: Welcome to B'ZOne Interviews
Jorge: Thank you Paulette. I appreciate so much your efforts to invite me to an interview with you (Beetnic) and Africa communibee
Beetnic: What's the weekend like in Argentina?
Jorge: The weekend is fine, today at night I must go to have dinner meeting with prospective clients of mine.
Beetnic: Dinner sounds nice
Jorge: Yes, sounds good
Beetnic: How long have you lived in Argentina?
Jorge: I was born in Argentina. I am 50 years. But I travel so much as a System Consultant.
Beetnic: You are an independent consultant in Buenos?
Jorge: I began to work in IT in a multinational corporation in 1979... I worked 24years there until 2003 and since 1992 I've been configuring services and solutions for eGovernment, eDemocracy and ePolitics. Lived in Bocaraton (Florida, USA) from 1992 to 2002 then, I left the corporation. And I am a representative of an International Bureau of ePolitics, and I am also a developer.
Beetnic: Interesting areas of business I must say
Jorge: I love so much, yes
Beetnic: eGovernance seem to be taking a lot of consideration in my countries today
Jorge: Yes, but the emerging countries need to adopt now, I'm trying to adopt that. Electronic portals to the citizens, radio to the citizens.
Beetnic: Do you have a company in Argentina?
Jorge: I'm an independent representative. I have offices but it is not a "company"
Beetnic: You've been involved in a number online communities and you currently administer a number of groups on Facebook. What was the motivation for starting these groups?
Jorge: When I travelled working, the last 10 years, I met several people, I love and love to meet people, places, etc. Then I was motivated to help my friends or colleagues. I travelled 28 days per month and just 2 days at home per month, so I could meet a lot of good and nice people; people who love to work and make friends like me.
Beetnic: Are they in any way related to your business?
Jorge: Sometimes, depends, for example: I sell services & solution bringing electronic voting and electronic survey and solutions for public and private corporation. And if I want to sell electronic survey to an international event, then my clients or "prospects" are my partners. And if they are my partners, they are my friends too. So, indirectly ...yes. If I try to sell survey to the international Cannes film. why not help them to promote some connection with people?
Beetnic: You have a survey application?
Jorge: Yes, it's open source
Beetnic: Is it web based as well?
Jorge: Yes absolutely. We, email, mobile and TV.
Beetnic: Cool, I guess we'd love to check that out with you for our Beezbox platform
Beetnic: Please, when you want, we can review that with you.
Jorge: I can send you the flash movie with explanation to the process, methodology and security....
Beetnic: How do you see the growth of social network today on the web?
Jorge: The social networking is growing so much and besides that with the OpenSocial platform. I have statistics "paper printed" about their use in my country and LA. I'm a member of the Open Social. Develop widgets with Google API.
Beetnic: Officially you're a web 2.0 enabler. You are the American correspondent for Cannes connection and Africa connections
Jorge: Both groups are to exchange culture, art, night life, suggestions, comments and recommendations. But mainly for business, events, cultural events. I basically help the director and the rest of the team, who are also friends of mine. So, if someone has questions, comments or need to prepare some cultural event I connect that person with the director or the working team.
Beetnic: Cannes helps to mange and plan cultural events in these countries?
Jorge: The art of Cannes; usually there are people working on art with the people working with film
Beetnic: What has the response been like?
Jorge: (private agents....) managers of models. Never was massive the response. It's about offer and demand. I'm loosing my English since I am not speaking in English anymore since 2002.
Beetnic: What language do you speak?
Jorge: Spanish
Beetnic: How would you describe people from Argentina generally? Are they friendly and welcoming to visitors?
Jorge: Yes, I always thought the people are friendly and now there are a lot of tourist here because the exchange rate is 3dollar :1pesos. Its expensive for us but not for tourist
Beetnic: Beetnic is about people, countries and cultures? If you have to present Argentina to Beetnic members, what interesting features would we expect, taking into consideration different demographics?
Jorge: Depends on the "age" of the communibee segmentation.
Beetnic: Yeah, most people we see online are broken between 13-25, 26-40, 40-60...
Jorge: Yes, from 18 to 25 is music bands, festivals...
Beetnic: What intersting activities are mostly popular in Argentina?
Jorge: Sports. The most popular is soccer
Beetnic: Beetnic has a package called Beetnic Live! It covers events and occasions in different countries, recently we covered the RNS event, a Madagascar Olympic-like event in France
Jorge: Yes? I am very sorry I did not know about that functionality in Beetnic
Beetnic: True, I'm telling you that now. We would like to do that in Argentina and many more countries around the world. I think it would come in handy for Cannes
Jorge: If you want, you can contact me to review your plans about Beetnic Live. I was supposing that too. You have a year to think about that.
Beetnic: Do you have a big event in a year time coming up?
Jorge: The next Cannes festival is next year and I'm only trying to prepare a Facebook developer garage in Argentina next September. Do you know about the Facebook developer garage around the world? I'm authorized by Facebook to do that but I need sponsors.
Beetnic: Is it mainly for developers?
Jorge: Yes, it is a forum to share idea with local developers. Usually that kind of event has 50-500 attendees per city.
Beetnic: Do you have an application running on Facebook developed by you?
Jorge: It is in progress.
Beetnic: Interesting, We hope to see your work on Beetnic as well.
